I'll usually see what the homeowner has in their fridge, and then whip up some magic. And always make enough so that they can have it for dinner, thats the key. Most homeowners like that added bit of service. Except for one poor family, whos 16 year old son shiit his pants in the middle of his high school basketball game. Apparently the last two alarms of my 5 alarm chili didnt agree with him. His dad thought it was hilarious though, and I included that picture of him crying and covered in crap on the Via panel in their pool room.

But since some homeowners are really uptight and don't like people using their kitchen, toilet or beds, I always like to make huge sub sandwiches. The key is to make them on the spot. Dont assemble them at home, assemble it right before you eat it.

I also like to bring a small propane grill with me sometimes. If theres a local park nearby or something its always nice to shoot over there and have some lunch. Grill up some chicken or hot dogs, maybe see if any of the neighborhood moms want to play hide the salami with me, then shoot back over to the jobsite. Its a great stress reliever and a good way to eat well and cheap.

Also, on a sidenote, do you know that an apple will "perk" you up more than a cup of coffee? The body can easily turn its sugars into quick useable energy better than it can with caffeine. So on your way home, when you stop to get that case of Schlitz, grab an apple for the morning also.
Gunga.....Gunga....GU-Lunga

And since Ernie won't keep count, I will. Hes up to 249, and counting.

Carl,

You are on a roll today...that made my stomach hurt....

Remember to also help yourself to afformentioned customers private scotch and wine collections and scruntch your nose and proclaim....
"Damn you for not having screw top wine on my break!"

Remember also to give them an upper deck into the back of the toilet....and not replace toilet paper...

(all in fun)

Am I the only one that got hungry when they watched super size me?

A half gallon of soda... when I think of that, I think, what a great idea.

I love Taco Bell, it is cheap and good. I actually don't eat fast food too often though. I'm fortunate enough to work mostly from home. Gotta love the 50% write off for meal expenses. Biz associates take turns taking each other out for meetings and some networking. It does seem like I eat only one real meal a day these days. In NYC, it is quite easy to spend money. Don't you guys in the midwest go hunting or something like that and eat deer jerky?

Dorsia... great sea urchin ceviche.

Yup,
I ett sum possum stuw fer lunch yesterdee...

Actually, I haven't gone hunting in many years, but I just ran into some of my family from Minnesota and Wisconsin at a recent family funeral and hunting was about all that we talked about (aside from our departed Aunt).

So far this week it has been Wendy's and Famous Dave's BBQ... Usually, we pack the mini-cooler lunchpails and break with the other trades.

That way we can BS about women and cars, and argue about who is hotter; the homeowners' daughters from the first marriage or their brand new mid-life crisis trophy wives.

When it gets stupid hot with enough humidity that the air is thick and chewy, I have been known to bring out the BIG coolers and fill them up with sports drinks, soda, bottled water, freeze pops and ice cream bars to share with the workers on the big sites.
This scores major points with the trades who we all have to interact with.

You must have been up in Possum Junction, Indiana. Its in the Hoosier National Forest.

Last time I was through there I couldn't help but laugh when we stopped at the Possum Trot Gas Station. They had shirts that said:

Possum, The other White Meat.

Fill that cooler with beer, and the next day they'll be drilling holes and unloading/loading your truck for you.
