We had our white van discussion. Now can we talk trucks? I still may buy a van but I want to explore all options. I currently drive an x-cab F150. I have seen a lot of commercial toppers available. They look nice with ladder racks and all sorts of neat options. Does anyone use a setup like this. Would you do it again. How tall would you order? I find about a dozen manufacturers. I found only one that is sold locally, Leer.

I'd be hard pressed to give up my GMC Diesel pickup. I don't have a work cap, but I looked pretty hard at them a while back. This was the one I was going to get: [Link: 4are.com] in the tallest version.

But I am still leaning towards getting an enclosed trailer and rigging that like a van. We'll see.

Cool site and they do have a dealer here thanks!
I know what you mean about not giving up a big comfy truck. I have a trailer but for the sake of all the mailboxes in town I try not to use it.
I still want to hear from someone that lives with a one of these things every day.

The enclosed trailer is really the way to go, Have had one since 1999 and it has been well used. Offers a lot of convience options. We have left it on the job numerous times with out worry. Just make sure to buy some quality locks for both the doors and the tongue.

CCD, a 5x10 trailer has as much room as a van (depending on the brand of van). The nice thing about the trailer is that you can order one that you can stand straight up and you only haul the extra weight when you need to.

Regardless if you are driving a van or pickup a trailer is a viable alternative to a partially used vehicle such as a cube van ...etc. The only down side is that it can be a bit difficult to get in to some job sites when compared to backing up a cube van.
Logic is a systematic method of coming to the wrong conclusion with confidence.

Live,
It is a 5x10 enclosed unit and we leave it locked at the job. But only on prewires. Never leave it full of gear for trim outs. We will use it to haul the gear for trim out, but thats it. We rent a parking space for it at our storage facility when we are not using it. Freaking HOA's, don't get me started.
Plus look at all the advertising space available on the trailer.

Well, other than the Ford thing.....lol

I have a Chevy x-cab 3500 dually with 8' bed, and I have a roll up bed cover on it. That makes it easy to get to any part of the bed, and allows for hauling those BIG boxes when required.

That, and a set of those removable side mount ladder racks for those times that the BIG ladder needs to be used (rarely), and a good (thick) rubber bed mat to keep things from sliding around.

Also have a 8x20 trailer, but it seems to never get used any longer, since most everything stays in the truck

AND......

I've been looking for the da** trunk on this thing for the last several years....Been wanting to slam it, but can't find that dang thing.....
