Set up a customer a while back w a mx-850. He had a Denon DVD player, and all was well. He recently replaced it with a LG LDA511. Before I make the 50 mile trip to his house, I was just curious if LG is typically good or bad at supporting discreet commands.

TIA
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.

It turns on with the 'play' command. But, no discretes I'm aware of.

For DVD's, I can't say for sure, but with the TV's they're getting better, i guess. The latest Niles IR library that came out earlier this year had several tv discretes (except an "off" wtf?) and may have DVD discretes, but I've yet to check those.

The 850 database is pretty extensive. Remember that you are not likely to find the cool discretes on the remote itself. Open the 850 editor and attach the commands for that model to a dummy remote program, then see what it has. I just did that with another thread and found some five discrete input commands for a Mitsubishi TV, and you know how insane their menu approach to input selection is! The 850 had it covered with discretes.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
