Hi all,
I have a job that I am installing the new HP 32" LCD. Here is the scenerio. The customer has an open faced cabinet built onto the wall. The cabinet is built into the corner. The CATV cable is also already run into the cabinet.
I am installing a 32" lcd so do not have enough room to place the LCD and stand on top of the cabinet. As the LCD is to wide, and I would have to place the stand way to close to the outer edge of the cabinet for the lcd to fit.
The cabinet stands about 3' high and I am going to use it to house the HD box and DVD player. I'm drilling holes into the top of the cabinet and putting in wire management plugs.
What I was looking at doing was installing a mount that I could bolt to the top of the cabinet, thus the lcd could be mounted almost flush to the front of the cabinet.
I can't use the mounts that are basically tightened/vised to the cabinet as the only open part of the cabinet is the front.
I hope I didn't confuse anyone with my description. Basically what I am thinking would be an articulating mount that I could bolt to the top of the cabinet.
Thanks in advance Bobby...

Hi Ed. I thouguht I may have screwed up my description.
In the corner of the room, there is a cabinet bolted to the wall. The cabinet is not built to the angle of the corner.
Basically there is a 3/4" peice of plywood mounted to the right wall, a 3/4" peice to the backwall, and a 3/4 peice on the left which is not mounted to the wall. The cabinet stands about 3' high. There are 2 shelves in the cabinet. I want to place a mount on the top, not in the cabinet. What I'm thinking is to bolt a mount to the top of the cabinet, so that I can position the LCD to the front edge of the cabinet.
In other words, the further toward the front of the cabinet I get, the more space I have from the corner. I would be concerned that if I used a stand, the lcd could get knocked off. I am going to use the 2 shelves for equipment. I know this sounds funky, but For viewing, the only other wall I have is basically all window..

Why not use an articulating arm mount and mount the LCD to the wall.

The chief articulating mounts extend around 2 feet from the wall if I remember correctly. That way you can do it right and fish the wires up inside the wall and you don't ruin the top of what sounds like a really expensive custom cabinet.

most table top mounts can be bolted to the cabinet it sits on. i have many a plasma in cabinets on lazy susans bolted to the platform...no worry about being knocked over.

or use the articulting arm as a second choice.

The8thst,
I'll have to take a pic of the cabinet tomorrow, and post it. My description obviously isn't very good. I wouldn't be ruining the top of the cabinet. If I could pull this off, it would look nice.
The cab isn't being used for anything, but this setup. Maybe I should have given the width of the cabinet. Roughly 24".
When I'm out there tomorrow I'll take a pic. If I put an articulating mount in the corner, I don't believe that I will be able to extend it out enough to clear the corner/walls. I want the LCD to sit diagonally in the corner. So that the right side is just of the right wall, and the left side of the LCD is just off the rear wall.
Because of all the windows in the room, The corner is all I have to work with. And it's an exterior wall.
I have a sweet interior wall I would love to use, But the customer's couch is on it, and they don't want to put the couch againt the windows.
Maybe all this talk will give you a better idea of what I'm trying to do.. Thanks..

ED,
The width of the LCD is 41.9". To the very front of the cabinet I have about 35" from wall to wall. I'm going to look look this thing over a bit more tomorrow. Thanks...

This [Link: chiefmfg.com] mount extends 37" from the wall and lets you pivot the LCD pretty much any angle you want it to go. This would also allow the client to push it up against the wall if they didn't want to look at it (great way to make designers VERY happy).

This will mount to the top of the cabinet.
