I just moved all my equipment into a closet and need some suggestions for cooling it down. I can put a vent in the door or something in the ceiling like a bath fan...Any Suggestions.....Thanks Michael

Depending on what you have in your rack, a bath fan might not move enough air. Unless of course you get one of the super fans from Panasonic. Those things can hanlde the early morning blastings of 7 installers after a night of Pabst and White Castle abuse. It can also pull your secretaries skirt to about ear level. A very good use of a motioin sensor if you ask me.

look at active thermal management stuff. Maybe something like the cool cube.

I was looking at a exhaust fan that is 110cfm which is more than the cooling cube at 80cfm....I have a reciever, directivo, dvd recorder, multi dvd, vcr and laserdisk. Do you think that would be enough. Thanks Michael

If you can set it up with an intake and exhaust vent of some type, I would think the cool cube should be enough.

The exhaust fan is $68 and I was planning of putting a vent in the door for intake and exhaust into the attic....The cool cube is $320 and that is out of my price range with less cfm...I was going to order a thermostat for the other and have it come on at certain intervals. Thanks Michael

Hornnumb2, looks like you've solved your problem. If a bath fan works for you then go for it.
This is a custom installer forum. Active Thermal Management is a professional product designed for the task that works. It includes thermostatic control.
Your bath fan may cool your closet just as well but I don't think your gonna find any recomondations for it here.
For a DIY project if it works good and you save a lot of money more power to you. :)

if the house has an HVAC system, then put an air return vent with a filter in the ceiling... It will suck the hot air out of the closet, and not just move that hot air somewhere else...
It's also a good idea to have an air return near your refrigerator, too, to remove hot air from the kitchen...
Those are small steps that melp make the home more energy efficient.
