I have never had great luck with the Pronto's RF set up. A guy I program remotes for does almost exclusivly the Pronto. I have talked him into a couple of RTI's now with their RF and that works great.

I have not had a chance to play with the new Pronto RF module yet, just seen it at Cedia.

I have tried Ernie's trick with the blue painters
tape over the IR receiver, just get a black sharpie.
This has worked on dozens of installs with Xantech
and Speakercraft IR repeaters.

And it really was me, not Larry!

That was a regular dinky link, no special model. Xantech once sent me a CF Friendly unit when the normal one didn't work, but that didn't work only even worse. I have installed a couple of Audioplex units that worked great for a few months, then became spotty. My fave was a plasma that someone else installed with a dinky link on top, pointed up at an angle. It still picked up garbage from the plasma, especially when a person walked in front of it. Better yet, you could not control anything when the picture was bright, but when it got dark, the commands went through.

Also a side note -- that install where I discovered the tape trick still made the talkback LED flash, but everything worked perfectly except the TiVo, which responds to this day only about 80% of the time.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I used plain yellow masking tape on my first IR troubled install about three years ago. It took 5 layers of tape on the front of an audioplex plasma proof ir receiver. Still wasn't bulletproof, but worked okay. About a month later I ripped it all out and went RF. Haven't done a IR system since (for the main control in a room).

Dealt with this problem (yet again!) about a month ago. Xantech Dinky link locked up, with full bright emitters whenever Plasma was on. Sonance table top (not Plasma friendly) receiver worked fine, butwouldn't operate the cable box, and the customer wanted an unobtrusive solution. I ended up using a Xantech (not Plasma friendly-customer did not like the size) in-cabinet eye. I unscrewed the front cover and lined the barrel with a couple of layers of aluminum foil. Works perfectly!
