I am trying to use the universal remote that came with the New Castle 865 receiver to control my dish network dvr 522. The remote said it learned the codes but they only work intermittently. The codes for this Dish receiver aren't listed in the New Castle manual. I looked at other threads and did some searches but found nothing about the New castle remotes. Thanks for any help!!

Have you tried learning the codes again???? Try with the remotes closer together or farther apart. Set them on a table while learing do not hold them. (and not on a glass table) Any flourescent lights in the room you learned them in? If so turn them off. If not darken the room some anyways.

The Dish remote usually have a very stong output. you will probably need to seperate the two remotes further apart while learning.

I believe this issue stems from the fact that dish uses Rf not IR. If you convert the dish unit to IR, then I believe your problems will be solved.
