I'm designing a new system here at the shop around a Niles ZR-8630AV system.
I want to use some of there TS-1 touch pads but I'm stumped on what to do about my outdoor zones. I have 3 total zones, a pool, a dock and an outdoor Bar.
I really do not want to expose my touch pads to the elements.
Has anyone had any luck in using the MX-850 remote to the control of sources and act as a volume control?
I thought about using the MR-300 and the extension part to link my system from those outdoor zones.
Any input?
Any other control devices you would advise me on?
Thanks,
Mike

I did my first ZR/MX system and I love how it works. I used the video distribution with an MX850 in each location. For your app you can keep the touchscreen inside and run the output of the MRF piece intot the IR sensor on the TS1. Or keep the cost down and use a SelectIR. Works beautifully!

Did you say in your shop? I would ask your rep about new product coming before you set this up in your showroom...

I'll second that. The products show at cedia were extremely nice. Including a two-way rf remote.

I agree with dolfan about using a Select. They have 2 versions, 1 with IR and one without IR. The variations we have done include puttting the keypad outside in an outdoor rated box with hinged clear cover. You may run into the occasional installation where the hinged cover will not pass IR through it. The other way would be to use a WS100 or WS100R outside (also under a clear hinged cover) if it is to be exposed to the elements. We have had good luck just putting it on the wall, provided you have an area where the driving rain or snow cannot get to it and not worry about the hinged cover and it should work pretty good.
