Hey there guys...

Up until this point, most of my projector or TV installs have been a single unit at a single location. I have a job that I will be hanging 15 TVs (27" CRTs) in a school environment. I preformed a walk through yesterday, nothing major to deal with, drop ceiling, steel / concrete above. Installation can be done after hours or on weekends.
Cable and power are terminated at the location. TV, VCR/DVD combo and Peerless mounts are being provided by a vendor the school deals with on a regular basis. This is the first job I'll be doing for them as a sub-contractor. I'm the only person submitting an estimate on this job.

The question I have is on the estimate... should I give them a price for each TV installation (ie 15 installs @ $100) or should I give the number of hours and my hourly rate I expect to use? by the way... no, I don't plan on charging $100 per tv.

The other question is a time guesstimate. Previously, with a single unit to install, if I factored 4 hours to do the job and it took me 5, then I only "lost" a little. If all the TVs take an extra hour, I've just "lost" 2 days. Naturally I know that some rooms will go faster, other will take a little longer. I'm just trying to make sure that I estimate as close as possible.

I've haven't used the Peerless mounts before since I typically use Cheif or Premier mounts... I would either unit would take roughly the same time for set-up and install.

Thanks for any insight.

Check out the Peerless jmb100, aka the power buddy hoist.

Uses a drill to lift the tv up to the pipe. Works great, saves time, your back, and if you are likely to do more jumbos in the future, you'll be glad you have it.

If you are the only person bidding... I would try to get Time and Materials.

If not I would say to be safe 2 guys 1.5-2 hours per location per man so 3-4 hours a screen.

27" CRT's can be heavy so there is a chance of alot of slow moving up and down with the TV's especially on the 1st few. I had to do 2- 32" CRT's I don't rember and they were a bear for the 2 of us doing them, because they were so heavy. We had to rig a rolling cart to get them in possition so the TV didn't fall and no one got hurt. Make sure you anchor them well and check the brackets, snchors, bolts or whatever a few hours after you put it up and then again in a week as they tend to settle with that weight.

just to look @ for no reason

Best of luck
