I getting mixed info on the correct way to use a Spawn
HD multi swich. This is what I was told to do: do NOT use the supplied 4-way multi switch, (sony dish mounts to the back of the dish, as do others) go directly to the Spawn. Sounds simple. The other day I installed a dish that had all three lnb's and multiswitch in a sealed unit, thus not allowing me to bypass it. In
this case I was just going to reg recievers and was not using a Spawn, so at the time I didnt put much thought into it.
I was told that if you use both multiswitchs that one of the will burn up, eventually.
If thats the case do I need to get dish's with external multiswitch's so they can be bypassed to a Spawn?
thanks in advance

Do you already have the Spawn? IMHO Spawn is over rated and over priced. I have seen a lot of problems with them. More so then less expensive units. I have never heard of a multiswitch being fried from cascading. Some might tell you they can't be cascaded but if they don't it should be fine. I know someone came out with the built-in setup you are talking about. Maybe Channel master? I haven't seen it yet so I don't know if it can be cascaded or not.

The integrated dish multi-switch will give you four reciever outputs with all three LNB's combined. Is your spawn a 3x8 or 3x16 (in x out)? Any application requiring more than 4 recievers would need a non-integrated dish-switch. More information is nesessary to help out.

It would have to be Directv. It wouldn't be Dish or Bev based on the info in his original post.

You will need the (4-In & 4-Out) switch that comes with HD dish, or if the dish comes with a built-in switch w/LNBs with 4 Outputs plus an additional Spaun multi-switch. The settings on the Spaun should be at 22k. That should be it. If you encounter any futrher problems, email me at [email protected]
