I sold a client a Vutec screen (dirt cheap)that was on display at a showroom that closed. The screen was a vendor freebie that was installed back in 1998. We never sold one and immediately switched to Stewart Filmscreen. The screen was mounted to a 14' ceiling. This thing has Mega-blackdrop. There is no model number or identifying marks on the screen case. I have not measured it myself but I think it is an 88" screen.
The client called me last week and he wants me to install it in a small den that has 8ft ceiling. This will be a retro job and we will be using it with a Yamaha DPX-1100 with it. Most of his gear is being pulled from a system I sold him a few years ago.
I have 2 concerns about this install.
1. Is there an adjustment on Vutec screens to limit the drop?
2. I assume the 1/8" jack on the power supply box is a 12v trigger?
The 1/8" jack was connected to a Creston system in the display. I did not have time to trace it when I was removing it.
Since my experience with Vutec and front projection in general is limited I figured I would solicit the forum's opinion on this install. We do almost zero retro jobs with front projection here in Florida due to light control issues. We have no basements and bonus rooms are generally only found in new construction around here. I have a month before I do the install so I want to limit the surprises on install day. Thanks in advance for the help!

Vutec makes a great screen.

They have 2 relay boxes

01-R12VU 12Volts

01- R515V 5-15 Volts

Vutec's website has all the answers to your questions.

See limit switch instructions below.

They have different procedures for different screens.

Double check their website before proceeding.

CHANGING THE LOWER LIMIT
Á Raising the lower limit.
1 - Send the screen down to its lower limit.
2 - Determine the number of turns required to raise the screen past the desired lower limit.
3 - Turn the white hex socket counter-clockwise the number of turns determined in step 2.
4 - Send the screen up past the desired lower limit and stop. Send the screen back down. The screen should
stop above the desired lower limit. If it is not, repeat steps 2 and 3.
5 - The lower limit of the screen should be above the desired lower limit for this step. See Part B of Lowering
the Lower Limit.
 Lowering the lower limit.
1 - Run the screen down to its lower limit.
Warning: Stop - The following steps do not apply to Tab-tensioned screen.
2 - Turn ON the screen down direction switch. Turn the white hex socket clockwise; the screen will advance
downward as each turn is made. Stop when the screen is at the desired lower limit.
3 - Send the screen up and down to check the lower limit setting. Repeat Parts A and B as necessary.
Ever notice when you are driving that everybody going slower than you is an idiot and everyone going faster than you is a maniac.

ccd,
mike is right on, however, I hope before you let the screen down that far, u need to be in a high enough space., or you could add the extra charge and just take it to vutec 2741 N.E. 4th Ave
Pompano Beach florida 33064
