Why do they have to suck so much? Even on smaller LCDs (12"ers) they don't hold the weight. The vertical tilt is total garbage. On my last install with them my boss decided that that was what i was using (because it's so cheep) and it took me a couple of hours to modify it to work properly.

I wound up buying a couple of bolts and drilling through the bracket to disable the tilt. There's gotta be a better way....

ok, sorry about this rant. I'm just a tad pissed off about a company that's polluting this industry with substandard, undesigned/unengineered product.

What model are you having this problem with? Aren't the models likw VM1S VM2S VM3S or is that someone else? I use so many different ones I cannot remember. I think I usually mount them a little high so they have the correct tilt as they naturally sink down. I know I have had this problem with Chief before. I am ordering some back stock this week and I want some that I will not have this problem with. What do you guys think of the Omnis. I have seen a scizors style bracket from them at RS so I assumed they were no good. I do not care about price. A cheap bracket that causes me a service call gets real expensive.

No wonder I don't feel as frustrated as this guy seems to be. I think I will stay with this unless someone has a better idea. The only thing I have found with the Sanus is that the wing nut things have to be real tight.

Hey guys,

metal

even thick metal

bends.

Omnimount has one good idea, which is something circular being bitten and held by something else circular. But their speaker mounts sag, they position the bolt heads so that if you are following instructions, you can't reach them under the speaker with a wrench (I bought a 14" long ratchet extension to enable omnimounting), and they ignore the fact that

metal

even thick metal

bends.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Sounds like he's referring to the Cantilever mount from Omni. We haven't had problems with anything up to a 15". The 20" is pushing it.

I've never had a chief mount sag, unless you count 1/4" on a 50" pull-out and turn as sag.

No problems with the CL or FLPCL. All of their other small LCD Flat mount and Tilt brackets are really bad. An engineer with microscopic fingers created them. We use Peerless for all of our plasmas and LCDs of all sizes (Cantalevered, Tilt, and flush). We use the Omnimount for just small cantaleverd applications.

Try mounting the FPCL to the Sony 26A10. Sony moved the jack pack behind where the mounting plate mounts to the TV. I had to use 90 degree jacks, and fought it for about an hour. Stupid design.

a bit off topic but I used one of the new Sanus cantilvererd swing arm mounts for a 42" plasma and it is the coolest swing arm mounts that I've ever used, and I've used the Chief and Peerless in the past. I now won't ever consider any other swing arm mounts. It is very flexible in it's lateral movement on the wall - unlike the other swing arm chief mounts (although the Peerless does have some lateral shift). I believe Fred has them. Very, very cool. For once, someone was really thinking. And yes I do know that if you take the "S" away from Sanus you get anus, but it is NOT a pain the ass.

I remember the OmniMount ball speaker mounts. We stuck a piece of emery paper in each one to help the jaws "bite" the rubber ball.

They had teeth molded into the jaws, but when they were powder coated, the teeth were too smooth to get a good bite.

I am using an Omni tilting mount right now on a job and it seems up to the task, but I am leery of articulating mounts and medium sized LCD mounts.

I have also heard good things about the Sanus products and the tapered bearing design...

Second that. I've used the articulating mount for a 42" and the two-armed mount for a 61" and both are rock solid. Hang it once and adjust it. The omni I fought with...never again...see the other thread:

So imagine how we felt mounting a 65" plasma on an Omni double swing arm. The client had bought both the plasma (LG) and the mount (which had no info on the LG).

In addition to the upward bias we had to use to get the thing to hang plumb, Omni made this mount with the intuitive Wesley-type knowledge that if they made two non-adjustable horizontal rails for mounting, no plasma manufacturer would EVER put mounting screws such that the rails covered the screw holes.

But sure enough, the upper and lower mounting holes on the plasma ended up smack behind the upper and lower mounting rails on the Omni, meaning we could tighten those bolts (going into the plasma) only enough to be snug, but still loose enough for us to hammer on the mount and have it slide down; we then used the other two mounting holes to actually tighten the mounting bolts.

Thank LG that they put SIX mounting holes on the back of the plasma!
