Thats a nice start. Still I think it would be just as easy to make a 4 in 1 out IR connecting block. No such thing as too much.

I used to have to make those by hand. Wiring in both diodes - making sure I had the cathode pointing in the right direction. Not hard but time consuming - espcially when youhave an installation that uses severel of them (usually the case). And then if an emitter is bad, you chuck the whole thing and start over.
I like this new Xantech part. Nice to know it is avaialble. This would have probably flown uder my radar. Thanks Fred.

Elan has had one for quite awhile, ( just was on their site)ok so they dont anymore but they do have this [Link: elanhomesystems.com]you can use ant emitter on it it looks like

New IR Emitters Help Integrators Solve Tough Challenges
CEDIA EXPO, Indianapolis, IN – 9/9/2005 Xantech Corporation, the leader in IR products and
technology for over 35 years, introduced four new series of IR emitters today at the 2005 CEDIA
EXPO, at booth # 108.
The new 282TP and 283TP twin plug emitters make it possible to control a single source
component from two different IR systems without the need to attach two emitters to the face of
the equipment. The 282TP and 283TP Twin-Plug emitters are based on the popular 282M High-
Power mouse emitter and 283 Blink-IR emitter, both with a 10 foot long cord and twin 3.5mm
plugs. Diode isolation allows for independent control and system protection. Rick Seegull,
Technical Director of Sales and Marketing for Xantech said, “Twin plug emitters make it easy for
installers to incorporate their customer’s home theater system into a whole-house distribution
system without having to stick a couple of emitters on the face of shared equipment, which looks
unprofessional.”
Another new emitter introduced by Xantech this week is also designed to help installers
create aesthetically pleasing installations. The 282X ‘Naked emitter’ is a high power emitter
without the shell, and is designed to be installed within the component itself, for the cleanest
possible appearance. Simply install the emitter within the case of the equipment near the internal
IR receiver (the high power of the 282X makes exact positioning unnecessary), and run the small
28AWG gauge wire out of the back of the component, allowing for an inconspicuous installation.
Xantech also announced the re-introduction of the BLAST-IR to the Xantech lineup due
to popular demand for this versatile unit, a high power J-Box mounted unit designed to send IR
commands across a room. Seegull noted, “There are situations where it’s a lot simpler to use a
unit like the BLAST-IR than run all of the necessary wires for a control system. The BLAST-IR is
just one example of Xantech’s commitment to provide our installers with the best system
solutions in the business.”
The 282TP and 283TP twin-plug emitters are now available for shipping, with a list price
of $16.00. The 282X will be available in October, 2005, and the 380-20 J-Box Blast-IR emitter will
be available in December, 2005.

I always just popped the cover off the emitter when putting them inside EQ, guess it would save a couple seconds of work.

a couple seconds of work. So did I, but I was always worried about the exposed solder joints, and ended up wrapping them in e-tape or shrink wrap... Time consuming... Sounds like a good idea to me.

Well i would pop off the shell as well, but Xantech claims this new unit is much more powerful than a stock unit.

Not that this has much to do with this topic but what about an emitter that is shaped to sit correctly in a hd directivo. And how bout an ir cover that works with these Tivo units. Sorry this subject just jogged my memory.

I need something like the 282TP for an install I have coming up.
Using a iPort wall unit for an iPod, and it needs to be controlled by 2 systems: 1) Nexus Audio multiroom system 2) RTI T2+ and RP6.
Both the Nexus unit and the RP6 unit have flasher outputs.
The iPort unit has a 3.5mm control input.
I need the flasher outputs from both controllers to be sent into the iPort's 3.5 control input.
Can I just cut the flasher off a 282TP and solder on a 3.5 mm?
