Oops. I originally titled this Intellipad, when I meant Intellicontrol.

A client has a Marantz SR7200 controlled via RF by an IntelliControl. There is a problem. She does not want to call the previous installer, who did not have the foresight three years ago to install video cabling for component in a new multi-million dollar home.

When she turns on the MUTE, the mute sometimes will turn off, sometimes will not. It will always turn off with the VOLUME, but the VOLUME doesn't always work. That same installer said he had to take the receiver to Marantz for some programming changes, which sounds fishy to me, and I was wondering if anyone has heard of that.

And, no, it didn't occur to me to grab a factory remote and see if the receiver did the same thing. I am in contact with her now only by email, and I have asked her to check this, but if you guys have heard of this as a Marantz problem, or not, it would be a help to know.

Thanks!

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I have the same receiver and have never had a problem with the Mute or volume functions.

Depending on the lighting where the cabinet is, there could be some interference. I had a Denon AVR-3083 that was doning the same thing, and there was a fluerescent light in the closet where the rack was located. If yo notice on the MSU, there is a gain pot above the IR out jack for each component. YOu may just have to increase/decrease the gain to get it working more reliably. Simple tweeks like that, most installers arent aware of, and give the intellicontrol a bad name. I love the intellicontrol remote, just gotta know all of it's querks, and how to get around them. Good Luck, and if you have any other questions about the intellicontrol, you are all welcome to contact me. Lee

If Lee's suggestions (all good ones) don't do it, it 's probably just a quick re-learn or re-program with the Intellifile software that's needed. I'm guessing I could have it working in under ten minutes, but the drive would be a killer...

I have .lin files for all of the Marantz receivers (mostly) and certainly have working codes for the 7200 if you need them...

The only ones we ever had a problem with were the 7300 codes, and we solved that one too.

Good Luck,
Norm

Sounds like a dirty code. Sounds like the trail of a trunk slammer. Good luck. Here is your chance to glow, show 'em what were made of!

Did you get this figured out? I do have the intellicontrol installed now with my SR7200 receiver and have a little bit of a problem with the volume control (it isn't repeating). It's probably just a dirty code. Since I just have the old yellow programmer and not the intellifile II, I won't be able to clean up the code or use a .lin file, I'll just try to relearn it when I have time. The mute works fine.

Never got it figured out. My local distributor referred me to an installer who could do it, and they said they would, then never called back. About the time I got the name of someone else, the client told me she had called back her original guy. Hmm.
