I have a device (iomega FotoShow) whose remote has a single button for power. I would like to determine discrete IR power on and power off codes for this device. The manufacturer has discontinued the product and can't help me. I have the a Pronto and its has "learned" the codes for the power on/off button on the iomega remote. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance for the help!

Someone on the Pronto Forum may have a quicker answer than this; here is what I know (I have not done any Prontos for a while).

The newer ProntoEdit (and maybe the older ones) will let you see the hex code for the IR. This will give you a starting place for messing with the code.

However, you might just mess with the code and come up with a command that will put the device into a service mode that can only be undone with a service remote, which you doubtless do not have, and which probably is not available any more. If you DO make a code like this, you won't know it until you are locked out.

I suggest you go to the Pronto Forum, and also search the site, for words related to what you are trying to do.

Also, try to reach someone in the Engineering or Product Development department of the manufacturer. If they cannot help you because the unit is discontinued, it could well be that they simply bought thousands of them from another manufacturer and had their label put on it. In that case, if you can talk someone out of the name of the original actual manufacturer, that company might be able to help you.

Good hunting, and don't get stuck!

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
