Oh yeah -- other than that, the diode approach is definitely the way to go.

Be aware that there is usually a 0.7 volt drop across a diode, so the voltage going to the LEDs will lower, which will lower the current and thus lower the amount of IR coming out of the LED. That effect should be more troublesome if you use double LEDs, such as the Xantech. I recommend against using the doubles, though, because you ALWAYS end up having a big hassle when one of the two units needs to be moved for service or the occasional component rearrangement. I'm also a control freak, and I like to be able to disconnect one LED at a time if needed for troubleshooting. Or maybe it's ONLY that I'm a control freak.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Ernie,

No reason really. Just didn't think of it in the original post. If you need to know, it's and Intellinet Controls System, a Niles Intellicontrol, an open house modulated/ir injected twin turbo fuel injected video system, a Pronto Pro, two Lutron Graffic Eyes, some Radio RA, and a bunch of DSC automated blinds. Everything that resembles a clicker has to control everthing that requires a clicker. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, there's an AMX system in part of the house that's a couple of years old.

Fun Fun.

By the way, for JJP, Tony Golden and JPoff especially, thanks!!! It worked like a champ. Got all this confusing s@#$ singing like a songbird.

Now maybe the guy will decide which he likes best for which areas and we'll go from there.

Thanks Everyone

I know Elan offers an IR emitter with 2 mini plugs at the end for controlling 1 device from 2 systems. We have used them and they work fine. It is probably OEM'd by Xantech or one of the other IR biggies. If 2 inputs to one emitter work without diodes, 3 might be fine. It's easy enough to try.

Xantech's ZC21 can also be used for this purpose.
