Here is a link to a company that has an inwall, on wall and desktop Base for Ipods

It will do full 232 control with balanced audio, Video and charge the ipod.

Universal fit for most Ipods

[Link: iportmusic.com]

Looks pretty cool, The rep was by today and had one for us to see. The best way to go is the IW2 as you can add to it what you need, there are 5 models avail
Didnt give us any priciing but it looks good

Thats was my thought exactly as i saw the website. However, to my knowledge Sonance doesn't have these options or model choices.

So, is this made BY Sonance or FOR Sonance?

I just prewired for a Sonance iPort. My first one. I've run 1 cat5e and 1 RG59. Should I be running more?

The iPort I have to play with doesn't have video output (for cover art)... but I would like to be future ready, as this client is a huge iPod fan and will probably be aware of coming features....

these had there own price sheets, we didnt gwt one yet but its a modular design, cat5 for balanced out, cat5 for balanced video, 232 port, bluetooth support, fits several different models. This one didnt look like the sonance models, the round pad in the back twists to fit the differnt sizes

although this was the sonance rep showing us this. I will call im and ask in the morning to see for sure.
I saw the 232 codes on the website for it as well

if you look at each model the least you should buy is the IW2 as it has the capabilities to be upgraded where the IW1 is what it is

it does look to be from sonance as the addresses are the same

It's Sonance. I attended a Sonance seminar last week and they showed us 5 different models(IW1 through IW5) with a full feature set on the highest model. They recently designated a division just for development of the iPort, sort of separate from Sonance itself...I believe they were doing the same with some invisible inwall speakers (whose name eludes me at the moment)

Sonace bought Sound Advance who made ( if they no longer exist as Sound Advance but their product still lives does one use the present or past tense? ) the invisible speakers. Facinating. A product from Sonance that can actually ( in theory or in fact ? ) be integrated.

[EDIT] Just took a gander at the serial protocol and it appears to be well done. The only problem is understanding what the commands are in English ( as opposed to sending them in code ). For example, What will happen if one sends the correct code for "GetNumberCategorizedDBRecords." So much better if they had a better description of what the command is expected to accomplish ( such as this command will retrieve the list of songs, artists, playlists, albums and such from the IPod database. I very much look foreward to the many questions on how to make this serial protocol work.
