I am relatively new to building custom remote controls. I have customers who are looking for a remote control that will allow them to not only control their home theaters but also digital music and video to different AV amps or whole house sound inputs. They would also like to use this same remote to control the central home automation controller for their home. In short a remote control that can contol not only IR and RF devices but also devices on the home ethernet. I am so far finding a gap between Pocket PCs and universal remotes. Does anyone out there know of such a device? I would appreciate any input that you could provide.

This is what the Cedia sponsered trade show in Indie is all about. Most of the manufacturers are represented there for your benefit.
Manuals?! We don't need no stinking manuals! a.. er..

Thanks for the inputs! It wouldn't be possible for me to attend the Cedia show, but will there be similar exhibits at the EHX show in southern CA?

Yes, EHX is similar, but not as large as CEDIA.

CEDIA is the number 1 most important show of the year for Custom install companies.

I question a dealers dedication to the industry if they cant make time to send one person out there for at least one day to walk the floor. Fly in on Sunday morning and head home that night....

Yes, CEDIA is your best chance to talk to the actual manufacturers - EHX seems (from my observations last year) to be run by distributers.
