I believe I have learned more from this site in a few months than 6 years of installing systems. I guess you get in a rut installing the same systems. I'm now installing a nec vt45 projector in a boardroom. I have IR receivers in the walls, but now I find that the projector came with a little receiver to be plugged into the laptop. This way you can operate the laptop with the projector remote. I have programmed the pronto to operate everything but I don't think the customer will want to carry it for presentations. Problem is I want to be able to point any remote anywhere in the room. I don't want to used little eye for laptop, how do I hook up to IR system? I assumed that since the cpu hooked up to projector I would be able to control both.

Well, I don't think you can. I assume your using the 8 pin mini din in to control the computer? If you can give me more info, MAYBE we can make it work. Probably not though....
Maybe you need to look at the surfboard stuff..wireless-computing.com I've had GREAT success with their products!

Thanks for trying to help. This ir receiver is the size of a pack of gum with 8 inch usb wire. they gave me an adapter from usb to 6 pin (mouse)connector. You plug it into where the mouse goes and then you control mouse by remote.

You could put an emitter from your other IR system (for the pronto) on the window of the NEC receiver..that way you could use the other receivers to pick up the signal etc. You could probably learn the codes into the pronto at that point.
