Is it possible to take 2 of the 50' off the shelf XM Radio Extensions and hook them together, to make a 100' extesion. Has anyone done this?

I need to go about 100', so 2 would do, but just wondering if anyone has used more than 2.

Why not use RG6 with XM adaptors?

why not coat hangers and tin foil!

Haha,I just want to know about the 2 adapters for this job... long story but one is actually in place, and adding the second would finish it up.

If you can't use two than we are going to go to the RG6 method. Do you have to use the "converter" boxes or can you just use SMB (XM Antenna connector) to F Cables?

I have recently done this...you can connect 2 XM 50' cables together and it works like a charm...we use the marine antenna for outdoor applications...works great! Go for it.

As I understand it the resistance of the XM cable is different than 75Ohm RG6 and you can't use adapters and RG6...please let me know if there is a workaround for this issue as we have many installs with extra RG6 where we'd like to adapt to XM antennas.

Thanks

XM says 3 before you have to add an amp.

I spoke to a guy at this company: http://www.datacraft.tv/

They are selling adaptors that convert the antenna cable to fit standard F connectors. Which then allows it to run over RG6. The adaptors do not impedance match or anything they just convert the connector.

He says that it works perfectly fine over the 75ohm RG6 cable and has no signal degradation even over 100 feet.

You can read more about his adaptors here: [Link: datacraft.tv]

I have yet to buy a pair of them but if they work I know we are going to use them. Running that stupid RG58 is annoying.

I also spoke with Terk, they are currently in the testing phase of a device that works as an adaptor that I believe has impedance matching.

I've used RG6 and adapters from sandsationalsound. Works great. Roughly 200' of RG6.
