Hi everyone...I'm looking into getting a TSU-6000 and was going to buy one through my boss at cost. he has been told by our suppliers that his cost is $625.00. Now I know that is a lot less than suggested retail, but I have found it online for right around the same price on a few sites. Are you guys paying less than this, and if so can you point us towards a supplier that will get us them for less? Unfortunately I don't think my boss will even stock up on them until I get one and use it for awhile. He's cheap like that.
(Sorry for double posting this, but I thought I might get a larger resonse in this forum)

It is about the same at my shop. If you are a Marantz dealer the deal on the RC9200 is significantly better because it is available to employees for somewhat less and you get the RF base statiion as well

Mc,

Same here! I think the only two major distributors are kinda bound by Philips as to what to charge. The few internet sites are either getting one helluva deal, or they are making about ten bucks a unit.

Looking right now at our latest price list, $624.00

Later!

Cost from my local dist is $575 as of June 17.
This price doesn't include the RFX6000.

Thanks everyone for the input.

Phil, who do you go through? I know we get them through ADI and some other distributor. I forget their name, all I know is we get our Niles equipment through them. But we were hoping we could talk ADI into selling them to us for $575.

Almo distributors, offices all across America, or at least in Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Minnesota and St. Louis.

I use ADI myself and understand the concept of one stop shopping but it bothers me that I have to go out and find lower prices to get them to compete. They know what prices their competition charges yet only reduce their prices to those who complain. Somehow that rubs me the wrong way.

Doesn't it bother any of you that this forum is open to everybody? Here you are discussing wholesale pricing, and customers who do not understand a thing about overhead are going to read this and think we are ripping them off when we charge them a reasonable profit...you know, the amount of profit that will keep us in business?

I don't know of an appropriate forum for these questions, unless there is one at the CEDIA site (I'm not a member, so I do not know), but I would suggest that we email one another about this stuff instead of letting it hang out.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

You know, I actually thought about that the other day, but you know what? They can get it for our cost ONLINE, and thats what is killing our business. I did a search for Pronto Pro and it gave me a bunch of sites that sold it for anywhere from $619 to $650. We constantly have clients saying "Well I can get it for a lot less online!" We had a client that just went too far with it and my boss finally told her to go ahead and get her plasma screen online and she and her mom could install it herself. He was already selling he the screen for less than Best Buy would have. She ended up getting it through us, but I think we lost the bid on the rest of the house that we pre-wired. I kinda happy about that though, because they wanted us to do the job for almost no profit. Let someother idiot do it if he wants...

I agree! lets not talk price. My customers that are in the know about the technical aspect of programming are looking at this website all the time.
(NO MORE COST TALK) please!
E mail asi/adi whatever they call themselves now and bitch about it. If enough of us do it they will have to listen to us "the people that make the thing work!" Just inform them about the software out there to convert pda's into prontos for the whopping price of $20.00 thats what im talking about!

I hesitated to make these posts for that reason but some of us (myself included) do not show an e-mail address. I would have responded privatley if I could have.

Do you guys who have put your e-mail address in your author profile have any problems with spam or other unwanted e-mail?

I did not have my e-mail for a long time (for the same reasons that you mention and that I use my work address). But I eventually decided to add it, I was convinced by others on this site that said that they did not have a problem. I have not received many e-mails because of it. The only negative experience was virus related. There was a week when I used to receive many warnings a day that someone had sent me an e-mail with a virus, since I did not recognize the address and since this is the only public place I have posted it, I am assuming that it might have been someone from here.

McN,
You always have to sell a system, not wiring! I will never wire a person's house unless I cover both wiring costs and at least 15% of the equipment up front. I got screwed over and over again with clients trying to be smart and bid every aspect of the job even after you made a deal!. If a client awards me with the job I get it to the end, no such thing as universal wiring and I use coded labels ( when I can!)There will always be a smart guy out there . Protect your lively-hood! Let the Best buy customers do the Best buy thing and good luck!

Well, whoever gets the job will have fun. There are about 24 zones for the multizone system, 4 theaters that were made to tie in to the multizone system also, and 5 camera locations. The wires are not labeled and most have been drywalled over. Guess who has the wiring diagrams??
