Have you seen an elegant-looking security keypad? if so, please post a link or drop in a photo. If you could design one, what would it look like? Do your customers care about the look of their keypads?
thanks

Elegant? Maybe ugly wall wart.....

I sell the customer on having a voice module in ALL systems, so their very own touch tone phone will operate the system.

Between that and the "keyfob" remotes, the client rarely bothers with the standard keypad.......

The HAI Omni console isn't too bad compared to most of them. It flush mounts into the wall.

Like TSS said, there are many ways around having an actual keypad mounted on the wall.

How about having the Crestron programmer place a virtual KP on your panels?? One more system integrated, one fewer keypad on the wall.

I would still recommend at least one OE keypad in your home as a failsafe, but at that point it could be located in a master bed closet or somewhere unobtrusive.

I think anyone would say that you would DEFINITELY want to use the OE panel in the case of sending a hard signal to the monitoring company if you are in an emergency situation, but the Crestron KPs could be used for the day to day operation of the system.

Exactly. Our jobs ARE about "integration" right? :-)

Actually, I'm not talking about high-end. My ugly security panel is hidden in a closet. Crestron keypads do the trick. Just wondering for the rest of AMerica if there is a nice-looking security keypad out there.

when I interviewed dealers about their preferred lighting control system, one of the biggest factors was aesthetics. Doesn't seem to be the case with security.

Besides the HAI one that can mount into the wall I don't think I've seen anything else that looks nice honestly. They're all just a necessary evil that people just accept. In our market most people don't even want or have a security system., and if they do it's only armed when they go on vacation or it's a vacation home on the lake that they aren't at very often. The only thing an alarm is good for around here is the motion detectors, door contacts, etc. for integration into the automation system.

Julie, Good luck on the keypad, I agree with the HAI looking nice. BUT and normal everyday keypad that is CHIC friendly (decorator friendly) is really tough.

The keyfob do the job, but they don't display status.

Maybe at Cedia everyone will drop the hint to GE, ELK, HAI and the others.

As far as Keypads go, the DSC MaxSys keypads look ok. Significantly better than all the keypads out there with 15-20 exposed buttons....

yes, dsc is not bad, but whenever I see them in homes, the cover is off, so it ends up looking messy anyway. Maybe I just have sloppy friends.

HAI and Ademco/Honeywell both make good looking touch panels. Below is a link to the honeywell touch panel page.

I'm sure that the rest of the alarm companies will have their touch panels out soon.
