Anyone know where the IR Sensor/Receiver is on the Mitsubishi WD62327 DLP TV is?
Or where I can place the emitter (other than on the screen) to control this tv from a touchpanel. Prefer not to have to retro a rs232 cable from the equipment closet down the hall. Thanks

Not sure where it is. You could always open it up and put the emitter inside.

If you have WIre for an emitter, then you have wire for 1-way RS-232 Minimum.

THe IR Receiever is inside. Gotta take the set apart if your using an emitter.

tried pulling the screen off last thing today, got all but the bottom portion completely removed and was able to tilt it forward a bit. didnt see (with such limted line of sight)
the ir sensor. tried hanging an ir emitter and than an ir blater inside the tv with no luck. yes I do have 2 cat5's and an 18/4 run from the equipment rack so the option is open for throwing parts and money at the solution but, as the rack and the tv are on the 1st floor with a 'decent' crawl space, running an rs232 cable is probably the best solution. thx for the advice.

I did this a few months ago. If I remember correctly, I removed the back and found a module around the center below the mirror. It was about 3 inches square and the IR sensor was on the small module(a circuit board about 3 inches square or a bit smaller). I siliconed the emitter to the sensor. Its been good since then.

Unless Mits has change the entire screen is the sensor. Also the TV will repeat IR out. There are two sets of IR outs one for NetCommand - really cool if you just do video and it's the new learning NetCommand - the other is the IR out for the repeater.

rs232 isnt some magical cable... You can solder a DB9 onto Cat-5 or just use a db9-rj45 adapter

noooooo. it's simpler than that. Don't go thru the back. It's full of boobytraps.

1) remove the front screen. Screws on the bottom behind the speaker cover. Lift up & it comes off. The button panel unplugs from behind the front entry panel.
2) remove the entry panel on front as well to unplug the screen assy.
3) you'll find the Eye at the base of the mirror. You can't miss it cause it's the only thing there. Mount the blaster next to the eye, run the wire out the front.

We did this was with an MR-250/MX-850 system on a 62725 last month. No bugs.
Manuals?! We don't need no stinking manuals! a.. er..
