Yes, you can backup AudioReQuest over a network since it supports samba. Just set you tape backup software to backup the entire dir and your music would be protected. It's not quite as elegant as having a zone unit though, since it won't save your playlists :(

Rent my Audio Request Rip Station from me. :-)
And, I'm wondering, can you back one of these
up with a tape backup? I'll have to ask them....

Audio request unit is nice as I have had one in my store for some time. They curtainly do not give it away but I guess there is a client for it. I am waiting for the new Imerge S2000 and NP200. The Imerge offers a little more "bang for the buck" and the NP200 is a cool idea and at have the $ of the AR!

Happy thanksgiving to my American friends!

The AudioReQuest RipStation does indeed support VBR ripping. You are correct that we ship Music Match with the RipStation which support any codecs that the AudioReQuest also supports (currently MP3 and WAV, soon to include FLAK).

A RipStation also offers two drive bays, which allows you to do a drive to drive copy of the music once you've ripped the CDs. It's a drag and drop procedures, and we have help guides to explain.

Cover art IS part of our 1.8.0 firmware being released in December.

In regards to HDD life, we've eliminated that problem with NetSync, (automatic mirroring/backup of your music and playlists)

Does the AudioRequest Rip station support VBR?
They use MusicMatch to rip, what codecs are available
and how good are they? Is there a utility to transfer
files from one drive to another?

Do you think they will ever support "Cover Art"
What is the MTBF on these drives?

Questions, Questions....

The one really annoying thing i have found on both the marantz and integra pieces and probably any of the xiva based products is there isn't a screen saver nor is there coverart support for coverart not found on the net like some of my local band cd's . The screen saver really p!@#$ed me off because i would like to be able to listen to music without having to worry there will be an integra or marantz logo burned into my 60" Marantz TV. Just to expensive to risk!!!

Most Newer TV's have a new Fun tion called "Power Off" Some sets have a special Command, other have a Toggle power state where if you press the "Power" button while it is ON, it will go into a "Power Off" state.

While in Power Off mode, the screen will not burn.

I generally recomend to my clients to use this feature when not watching the TV.

Sorry... Couldnt Ressist... ;-)

Yeah i know about power off works off a light switch right? I really like having the video aspect of a music server to get artist info coverart stuff like that,,, just a visual guy. I can always use "power off " when i decide to listen to pink floyd at 3 in the morning, you know when the light hurts my eyes
