Nortek will be aquiring Niles Audio

Nortek, parent to Xantech, Speakercraft, Elan, Panamax among others, is aquiring Niles Audio.

Note to Nortek: I am available. Asking price is $50 million. Contact my lawyer, please.

It almost feels like we are playing monopoly. Let's see who can acquire all the railroads.

So Sonance and Russound are the only ones of the original big five to still remain independant...

The other three (Elan, Speakercraft, and now Niles) are all under the Nortek umbrella alongside Xantech, Panamax, Channel Plus, Open House, Linear, M&S, Broan-Nutone, & Omni Mount.

It reads like 90% of the who's who in custom installation from about 5 years ago (who probably equalled about 90% of the market share in their respective categories back then, too)...

If it weren't for the new manufacturers popping up every year, this could become pretty damn close to a real monopoly!!

When are we going to hear about Ingram/AVAD buying Nortek??

That would create an even larger evil empire than Honeywell/ADI!!

Sigh.........

More bad news for the overall state of the industry.

Then again, we go through these things every once in a while. Remember when Jensen was buying everything in site? Ditto Harman, Directed Electronics and Klipsch. Say how's that Zon deal working out anyway? Has Crutchfield made it a household name yet?

I will agree that DEI ruined car audio... actually ADST ruined car audio, and then DEI bought their assets when they were worth about a buck-o-nine.
