I'm trying to source a LCD TV but as it's part of a larger system the customer wants his learning remote control (philips pronto) to have an all off command. Most of the LCDs I've looked at have a toggle on/off which causes a problem (if the TV is already off it will turn on). Does anyone know of any descrete codes or any other way round this ?

As always check the files section for the TV manufacturer, and see if the codes are there. If your usuing a pronto you should be able to cut the Hex code and drop it in your program. You'll be suprised how many codes you can find there.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look and try and choose a LCD that has discrete codes. Not sure I'll be able to find codes for LCDs but I'll try the TV ones and see if they are the same.

LCD is a Tv, just a type of TV. Often the manufacturers will use the same IR codes for sveral of the TV's they use

My Diboss LCD TV has discrete on / off.

They are not on the factory remote - in fact I couldn't even get the factory remote to teach the Pronto. (It wouldn't realise that they were toggle bit codes, so only worked every other time).

I found another TV remote that worked the TV and learned those codes, then extrapolated to find the discretes.

details of the TV model and my CCF are on my website.
(As the LCD is a new addition, If the version with the Diboss is not on there, email me and I'll send it over)

Some of the Toshiba LCD's use discrete - definetly the 31-32" widescreens

You can also make a pseudo discrete if the unit switches on with any other button. It's preffered to get discretes, but not the end of the world.
eg; Channel up...wait...power toggle.

If you have Toggle commands then Try a system On/Off button on the Home Page with a Macro for the Power commands for each source. If you have sources that have discrete on and off than create two
buttons. A On button and a Off button.

If you still have issues than try a system with current or video senseing.

good luck.

Cheers for that guys, I'm sorry I haven't been able to check back for ages but that's been a great help. Thanks.
