There lies the only problem I have with the Sherwood Newcastle line. There entry level component upconverting receiver is MSRP $1499 but it has a great feature set including upsampling for PCM audio, seperate Zone 2 remote and an URC MX500 remote control. Sounds great too. They are coming out with less expensive receivers with up sampling at CEDIA.

The bad thing is the $1499. If it was $1000-1200 it would be in the ball park with the Denon 3805 which is my go to piece. I am a Sherwood Newcastle booster. I am expecting to see the $1000 receiver at CEDIA.

I was informed today that the R-671 has upconversion. MSRP wil lbe about $100.00 less than the R-756, which is still around at this time.

I'm having a meeting with the rep tomorrow, and I can then confirm this....But it sounds pretty firm.

I'd have to check the spec sheet again, but I too am pretty sure the 671 had conversion up to component, and Im PRETTY sure I was watching a VCR tape on component inputs before it crapped out. Has a MASRP around $499 if I remember correctly.

For that matter, I thought the other entry level models had up-conversion as well. Too bad I didnt get a chance to play w it too long.
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.

Worse yet is when you actually do a bench test, only to have the item fail after being installed in the clients system.....
