Any Marantz dealers here?
It would seem that on the 7500 and 8500 receivers I have done lately there is a very strange quirk with the 7.1 Analog input.
Once you are using the 7.1 analog input (SACD and DVD-Audio) the only way to get to another input is by pushing the 7.1 analog input again. I guess the theory is that you have to first exit the 7.1 analog input before switching to another input.
Ummmm, okay, but how much sense does this make? How are we supposed to make activity macros if we can't freely switch from one input to another?
I haven't found a work around either - has anyone else had any luck?
Specifically I want to go FROM the 7.1analog input to a different input by pushing the WATCH TV or WATCH DVD macro button.
Thanks in advance for any tips.

7.1 Discrete Off (5001 0000 0000 0002 0010 0001 000D 0000) Those codes are RC5. Here they are converted. 7.1 Discrete On(0000 0073 0000 0010 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 00a0 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 09b7) 7.1 Discrete Off(0000 0073 0000 0010 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 00a0 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 09b7)

Select a button and then select add an IR code which should be first on the list to the right.... When the next page comes up go half way down the page and select "Custom IR Code" Name it something in the likeness of what your doing.... this will not show up on the button, but it will label the IR command you are teaching. Open the post of what you got for a reply or cut and paste the reply with the hex numbers and letters only...ie.
0000 0073 0000 0010 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 00a0 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 09b7
this is for 7.1 on
Select Ok when you are done and you have a button with the command that you wish to use.........
When you issue this command always send the 7.1 off before each input so when you go to VCR or DVD or CD or whatever, no matter what you picked before it always shuts 7.1 off just in case you had picked it before........and if you didn't then it won't matter.
Im sure I speak for others............This is more of a discrete forum question and then a Pronto Forum question, and I know they don't get answered always in there.

Worked like a charm. Thanks to all. This site is great.
Frank - this application is for a HTM MX850, but I will use it for all HTM and RTI remotes.
Thanks again for all who replied.
Cincy Remote Guy et al... as a follow up - do you also have Marantz Zone 2 discretes up your sleeve (power on, power off, and inputs)? Pulling my hair out on that one too, but its not as critical as the 7.1 analog as I have a zone 2 work around.
Thanks again.

Thanks again. Ummmm.... Marantz has been posting all their discreets on their website for years, now. Download from here or from the Marantz website the default RC9500 configuration PCF. Inside are full discreet codes and, there is also now a full second set of discreet codes to control multi-room through the front panel. Use the 7400/8400 mutli-room discreets and you should be totally golden.

Ummmmmm, yea, wouldn't it be great if they published their codes in a format other than their proprietary remote control format? I have the 9500 pcf file and can't do a damn thing with the codes contained in it.

That would be Philips "proprietary" format which can be used largely across the board - Philips, Marantz, URC, Crestron, Yamaha, etc... Surely there must be a way to convert it to your "universal" format.
