Son, you have ventured into the Lions den wearing the perverbial steak necklace. RF to IR converters are specific. In other words, a MX-3000 can talk RF to the MRF-250 (made by the same company), and the MRF will convert the signal to IR. However you can NOT use the following RF remotes with a learning multi remote...Fans, lights, garage door, BL**e system...Ect. Just like the key for your car wont start mine, the Bose system has its own proprietary RF signal, and you must use that systems remote. The Denon reciever is a step in the right direction though. Lose the B**e speakers, get a real subwoofer, some nice fronts and centers, and a good pair of surrounds, and make the Denon your head peice. The system will be much more functional, more more flexible, and you will hear sound much more like what the producer had in mind when he layed down the sound track.

I have never heard that one before. What a kind way to warn him about the deluge he is likely to experience here.

BL**e system...

This might be hard for a newbie to get; Bose is sometimes referred to as "Blose" on this web site and others. If you search for threads with "Bose" in them, you will get the general idea.

Amen.

The Bose system also has the drawbacks that
*it is intended only for use with its own speakers, so additional rooms, if desired, are a bit weird to add
*while Bose is happy to license its technology to others, it doesn't seem to be able to admit that any other technology exists, so they won't even THINK of paying for Dolby Digital or dts for their units. Their surround is the best thing you could get in 1990 without being quite the same as ProLogic.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Sorry Ernie, and Tek for that matter if I came on to hard. There should be a Bose forum here to soley disuss the downfalls of this technology. It literally erks me that the "informed" general public flock to the mass advertisemnt of a company like this, only to be taken advantage of. We in the CI industry spend countless hours in research, and training to provide our customers with great systems, only to be drowned out by a $200(actual worth...retail $1900) endcap at the local big box retailer. Please check out this site if you have not already in refrence to Bose.

Guys i share the same feelings as you do. I've worked with ppl within bose and they feel the same way.
But I dont think BL**se is ever goning to change. They have a great company and makes lots of dollars.
Yes there systems suck and sound like crap, but to the end user its fine. The systems look pretty and do what there ment to do, with out too much fuss.
So instead of dicussing the crap teknology, lets discuss about how to intergrate and maybe how to educate our customers into making 'sound' decisions.

This is the only thing I have ever seen work on old Bose RF based systems.

You will notice that it says it will not work with the LS12. Don't know why.

The LS 12 does not have a serial port on it.

The problem is that the B**e crap does NOT integrate into anything else easily. And the fact that it performs sooo poorly makes it a product that most of us would not like associated with our companies.
