Hi all. I am installing a Meridian freestanding system, and the rears are in the middle of the room. I'm trying to find a recessed floor box with a black cover that will house a single duplex outlet and be able to contain excess wire. Appearance is critical as this is going into a model home, and the floor is slate over standard wood framing. I've already searched Wiremold, Hubbell, and Raco, but nothing they have looks right.

Wow, that must be one hell of a model home to be putting Meridian on display. Sorry I can't help you with your question.

Meridian huh? So i take it a staple gun is out of the question on this one. Talk to the electrician, I've seen some of these guys pull out these gorgeous boxes. Earlier this year I was at a job in Florida and the whole second floor had these beautiful chrome floor plated floor boxes. But since it is a model home, you might as well just smash a couple of holes in the floor and run an extension cord, since you'll most likely never get paid on it, and half your stuff will get stolen anyway.

The home is sold, 2.5million. Equipment is in the mortgage. Someone will be attending the system at all times during show hours.

Will this allow the door to close with the power plugged in? I couldn't tell form the diagram at the extron site.

I think this system is going to get quite a bit of attention.

The Extron cable cuddy isn't really supposed to go into a floor. At least that's what the company told me. These items are meant for tabletop usage, although I did use a pop-up unit in a clients home office, and it worked quite well.....

What about using those brass floor electrical outlets, just modify the opening with a brass bushing for the dig. wire.

I've used that Extron box in the floor for Meridaon setups a few times.... WOrks out great. Just notch the cover for the AC Cable and Digital cable and it'll close just fine. its NOT nmeant to be walked on... ALthough I have stepped on em a few times without harm... If its right behind the speaker, its usually out of harms way.

Check out Liberty Wire & Cable... They can whip out some nice black anodised guys...
The model homes around here, we're lucky if they use frickin' Bose!
