Need info on SR880 A/V Receiver reset. No Manual. Does anyone remember how to reset this thing. It is powering down every five minutes. (I timed it).
I went into the menu and there is no sleep or timer programmed. I tried programming it for 10 minutes but it powered down again in five. Whats up with that? I have pressed and held every combination of buttons but not the right sequence I'm sure. Pull out your manuals from the Days of Dinosaurs and Laser Disc and help me solve this Marantz SR880 issue.

Thanks Techs

Oh! by the way Guys/Gals this lady is 167 years old and will not replace this receiver.
She thinks it is still new. She must have used it twice. It is always the band aid projects that kick your a--

To reset the SR880: Hold "Memo and Clear" on the front panel while the unit is turned on for more than 3 seconds.

While a reset will resolve you "problem", the following will as well without the need to reassign inputs, reset pre-programmed stations, etc...

The older Marantz receivers had a "feature" called TV auto. It's in the setup menu and, when turned on, looks for a video signal on the composite input of the TV input. When there, the receiver turns on automatically. When absent, the receiver turns off after... you guessed it... 5 minutes. If you turn off TV auto, your problem with go away. The only other caveat is that if you use the TV input as an audio only input, the receiver will still turn off after 5 minutes - even with TV auto disabled. I hope this helps.

That makes perfect sense because I'm only using the SR880 for Audio. The SAT and DVD are running Component Video to dedicated TV inputs.

I'll go in and Turn the TV auto off and perform a reset if needed. Thanks RC

deniz13 and RC Geek...

my friend gave me a marantz sr880 which i've just installed for the audio part of my new plasma tv (i have all the speakers, left, right, center, subwoofer, and two rear spkrs.) Of course it's been in his attic for years and he is clueless about any of it. The manual is way over my head.

my problem (which i hope you can help) is that the sound coming from the 880 is BEFORE the image on the screen. In other words, i hear them speak a split second before their mouth's move. very annoying. seems there is a delay between the amp and the tv (i'm using digital cable with a cable box.)

i assume i can change the "delay" on the 880 except that i cannot for the life of me figure out from the manual how to get to the menu to find it. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance.
