I've used the audio plex twice now with panasonic plasmas and have had great results with the "targets" within a foot from the screen. Only thing I could complain about was the fact that you need 2 targets if the system is composed of dish network or digital cable. Audio Plex doesn't make a plasma proof target that can cover all the ranges of freq.
Bottom line is it works great.

On my first plasma installation (Pioneer 502MX) I velcroed a xantech 291-10 HIDDEN LINK IR RECEIVER under and up behind the bottom of the plasma.
I theorized the IR would bounce off of the painted sheetrock and make its way to the receiver. This has been working for about 3 yrs with Tivo, and DTC-100,
HK receiver.

Good Luck

At CEDIA, speakercraft demo'd their IR targets mounted in front of plasmas and were touting them as plasma proof. It was powered up, and there wasn't even a hint of glow.
