I will probably be hunting one of those down for my living room... the computer geek in me loves it. :)

I don't know. I think the article's cost comparison to traditional setups is kind of bogus. Seems like a clever product in that it is an in wall 4 port hub/switch, but that's about it. I'd rather jusy use a desktop hub as needed.

I like the idea.
This makes sense for certain applications, although I am concerned by the "power over ethernet" part...

I don't know if I should be concerned, but I am.

power over ethernet is well established in the commercial side. We are just starting to use Cisco wireless APs that use POE.

I think a one gang 4 port hub with POE is pretty trick. Put one under all our customer's desks next to the structured wire box for a good solution. I dig it.

A few years ago I got 'sucked in' to the comercial side.
Mostly accounting firms,Hospitals,and industrial offices.

If I had known about this 'plate' I would have spent a lot of less time on the drill press!
Not to mention the hours with a die grinder and a flat file making my own!

Recently business has steered back towards whole house/home theater/control.
(the stuff I really love!)

I'll check them out on my next comercial adventure.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

It's very hot on the commercial side: hospitals, schools (especially dorm networks)...being able to control traffic at the port level, identify everything down to the port. Also, it puts 4 known ethernet ports at the end of a fiber link - very important for the military. I have one I got for free and I can't think of a decent use in the home...

The managed version is much more interesting to large organizations - getting rid of all the "renegade" hubs and managing each and every port.

I'm using POE all the time in homes. It's really nice to power AP's without running wall warts.
