Yikes, amps in joist cavities??
I wouldn't do that in a customer's house either!!

Before the rack mountable amp came out back in '99-'00, Triad used to make outboard amps for their in-wall and in-room subs that were essentially the same onboard amp, except installed into a tiny CNC routed MDF enclosure with a pair of binding posts that just fit the size of the board and the depth of the transformer. We used to place them on 3 space shelves and put HBL blank faces or vent panel faces on the front to hide them. With the size that Triad used back then you could lay two side by side, I don't know if these new jumbo Parts Express and Madisound plates can go two to a rack shelf...

True, but somehow, there are no trade-ins or leftovers in my system

...as I am staring at network cables running across the floor to a DSL modem sitting on a shelf that was placed intentionally at the point where the phone line and the power supply cable reached without requiring me to terminate anything new.

I promised myself I would install a panel and terminate my own house like it should be and move the modem and router... maybe next decade.
