Ask someone from NHTor that deals NHT to give you one, they come with every set of in-ceiling speakers..........little round circle made of plastic for your finger with a short thick wire with a little 90 degress end on it for pulling out the grill.
If you can't be good, be good at it.

I forgot to add that I keep a clean putty knife for Triad clips.
I wish I could get them back on flush and straight and more often...

I'm still using my red handled 90 degree Snap-On pick like a bunch of others!
I've had several of the 'free' removal tools but can't seem to find them when I need them!(I'm still trying to figure out how to haul my KRL-1003 from job to job!)
I also still have my 'red handled' ratchitting screwdriver! It now resides in my Harely tool kit. The comfort grip screwdrivers are a lot nicer. Red for phillips, orange for flat.

My name is Mike, and I'm a Snap-On tools junkie!!!

I'm afraid that we don't have any 'Snap-On' anonomous 'chapters' here!

I'm going to have to initiate one on my own!

But not untill 'I'm ready to quit'!!

I use dental tools. They are the same kind used by your hygienest (assuming you have one). The next time you're getting your teeth cleaned, maybe she will give you one. If not, maybe you can grab one when she isn't looking. However, if you get caught, i may be hard to sit through the rest of the cleaning while she takes out her anger on you.

My dentist charges $130.00 for a cleaning-- I think they can afford to throw in a free pick. I must admit that I actually got my dental picks at a surplus electronics store for a dollar a piece. They work great for speaker grilles. I also find them useful for prodding slow workers or scratching my ass.

Damn you 2nd rick!
In my car days the Snap-on, Mac and Matco guys used me for their mountain home payments. Either I was making a lot more money then or I was just easily led to buy the coolest tools.

Got a litle hook from Boston Acoustics at CEDIA
a couple of years ago. Works great! I don't know
if they sell them or not.

I got one of those. Threw it away about a hour later. Stuck it in my pocket....you figure out the rest..

If you are installing the speakers yourselves, you can make it easier with any tool by being careful not to overtighten the speaker mounting screws. You really need a killer removal tool if they have been macho-tightened.

As you crunch the screws down, the grille mounting location gets tweaked more and more (I have seen this with Sonance, Niles, and Kef). It is possible to tighten them so much that the grille can't be removed without damage, so the thing to do is tighten until you see the frame start to distort, then get out a hand screwdriver and adjust for just a slight bit of frame distortion. A Sonance in the ceiling that I once did this way lost its grille, but just a tiny bit more tightening of the mounting screws made it stay in place.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I left a job one day last week around 6:00PM to go meet a friend for a Pepsi or two. (a rare occurence since his daughter was born and I became a partner in my company)

I sat there for a good 10 mins waiting for him, and as he came in and I felt this sharp sting of something poking me in my right hamstring....
I was sitting on my HUGE bit storing screwdriver that was still in my back pocket!! I set it up on the bar, but then I felt dumb when the hot bartender asked where it came from so I walked back out to the Blazer to throw it in the tool bag...

Funny, I never felt it on the drive over there or the whole time I was sitting there by myself...
