try these guys www.cinematronix.com
they do mods for regional coding(as well as removing the coding restraints) and can add a line doubler/tripler/quadrupler (they can give you output via RGBHV up to 1600x1200). Hope this helps

isn't this on the edge of legality? I know it is damned inconvenient that those DVDs won't play here, but aren't we supposed to just submit?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

is such a custom mod cheaper than adding a DVD player bought in Europe? Can those perhaps be gotten from the guys who have 220V in one meter high letters in their store windows?

I am wondering about this myself as I had a client ask about this last week. I was also under the impression that this was borderline illegal, grey market kinda stuff. If any one can find some legality on this post it here.

Go with a HTPC and use http://www.remoteselector.com/
I haven't used it myself but have heard good things. It allows your PC DVD player to play discs from any region.

Don't know about the legality, but it seems to me that if you bought the discs you have right to see them.

I thought the question was reguarding a Yamaha DVDS520,
not a PC app.

Yes - but given the ultimate goal of actually viewing the European DVD's, I offered an alternative.

I thought that was what these forums were about.

Sorry if I wasted anybody's time.

don't know but don't think it will work. The DVD player will be sending out a PAL signal while the TV (assuming it is a TV, most projectors accept different formats) probably only accepts NTSC.
