...which Plasma to buy
between a 50" Samsung or a 50" LG.
Flip a coin...
They are both Korean made panels that are geared to hit lower price points. Not that this is a bad thing, the world needs economy cars too, just know what you are buying/selling.
I have used the LGs and Samsungs, and they are decent quality if that is the concern.
LGs policy of offering tons of different panels in a dizzying variety of different bezels combined with their high model turnover are a turn-off to me. As a person that specifies panels in a quote that may be three generations old by the time they are ordered. I at least want the panel to be oriented the same way as the one I specified in terms of connectivity, tuners (NTSC tuner, ATSC tuner, or no tuner) and in terms of speakers (speakers on sides vs. bottom vs. no speakers)
Fujitsu,Hitachi and Pioneer all sell better panels at that size, but are usually a little more money.
I also like that they keep models around for while and aren't trying to reinvent the wheel with every new model.
New generations are pretty predictable and usually just add functional upgrades, not off the wall whiz bang multi-color contoured 3-D bezels and completely re-designed speaker arrangements.
I hate video...
