Looking for suggestions on a front video projector. Needs to have 12v trigger, discrete power and input IR codes, Component, SVHS, and 15 pin RGB (HDTV)inputs. DLP would be preferred, but a good looking LCD can also work. And oh, yeah, it has to retail at about $5000. Supposedly Yamaha has a new LCD unit that might fit the bill, but I'm looking for other options. Infocus, Panasonic, Dreamvision?

If Craig doesn't mind, I'd like to hear similar suggestions, with one difference: is the CRT projector still the best? If so, which models are the best for the money? Larry www.fineelectricco.com

Wow, you guys are asking for a lot. I don't think I've ever seen a 12v powier on for a projector. LCD or otherwise.
And IMHO the LCD's look like crap on anything but VGA or above.

I also haven't seen an LCD projector with a 12v screen trigger.
The new DWIN Transvision 2 DLP (Which we hope to have this week coming up), has all the discrete IR codes you need. It has two 12V triggered outputs for projector lifts, screens, etc.
Best of all, the triggers are assignable. They can be individually assigned to power or a particular aspect ratio.

The Sharp XV9000 DLP has all of the above but retails for about $10,000.00. Does 1080I, 480P. Has 5 inputs. S, Composite, 2 component and VGA(DB15).
Plus a 12v DC trigger

There is a new Focus available by cedia time that has what you are looking for with a retail around $5000.00 canadian dollars, thats 2 dollars U.S. I have a Runco CRT that I can give you a serious price on and yes CRT's are still superior to DLP but the hassle factor ways in majorly. The dreamvision cineone has been a good seller but the ceiling mount bracket is a piece of sh_t. My choice is the Focus screen play 110. At $6000.00 or so U.S it is awinner and the 48 hour replacement warrenty is tops. If you have alot of Money go for the Sim, it has a 6000 hrs bulb life.
As for a trigger that is easily rigged.

Oh yes the DCDI in the focus was done by Faroudja, all aspects (6) of the Faroudja and a 6 segment color wheel and of course a serious ceiling bracket.

"Silly Rabbi, kicks are for Trids!" Yes, I do almost anything that has wiring. I can fish wires in walls without breaking the surface where others would say it can't be done. I'm also licensed in home and commercial improvement, as well as electrical contracting. I've been into electronics since I was five, and made my first crystal radio. I grew up in a neighborhood where ours was only the second house on the street, so I got to watch a lot of construction, so I know how homes are built. I am an installer, not a retailer. I have never programmed a remote for anyone other than myself. I often recommend equipment, and have even accompanied customers on their buying trips. I also do networking, background sound, phone systems, etc. in commercial establishments. I prefer new work, but, again, I excel in retro-wiring. Since I also do drywall work, I can repair the occasional access hole when necessary. Larry www.fineelectricco.com
