On the 'outputting both standard and high def signals at the same time issue', I would confirm before I committed.

The current DirecTV boxes (With TIVO) that we have run into will indeed output on component and SD jacks at the same time, but only when the resolution is set to SD.

When the boxes were switched to output in high def, the standard def outputs were cut off.

Fortunately, this model has a simple push button and indicator on the front panel. Not hard to show a customer how to switch between the two.

Mine is not a TIVO box, not sure if that makes a difference. All I have is the 480/720/1080 indicator. Never really paid attention to it, just know that my DLP w HDMI and my proj w s vid/composite were "hot" simultaneoulsy. You may have proven me wrong on the HD/SD issue. I ll check again tomorrow. I know I never ACTIVLEY switched it off HD. I had a picture, and just assumed it would have been like all other STB;s and cut off SD if HD was active
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.
