I have a TSU 3000. I have two hunter fans which run off of RF frequency. I want to run them from my remote. I also have a Dish network HD811 which uses RF I got the codes for IR from someone on line, but I want to know how to do it myself for further expansion in the future.
Hopefully someone can HELP????????.

To get the TSU3000 to do RF, your going to need to take the back off the unit, and just below the IR window your going to have to solder in a 1/16" gondola flair and hilton tie. After doing this your going to have to pull up the software and inform it that you are indeed trying to do the impossible, and control RF products with an IR based remote. Once the software conversion is done, and you are sure you have properly soldered both flair and tie, call the people at Philips tech support and they can walk you through the rest. 888 486 6272 Good Luck.

What Carl is trying to say, very sarcasticly, is that you cannot learn RF Codes. Devices that Accept RF Codes cannot be controlled by a programmable or learning RF remote control. Whether you are using a Pronto, Marantz, HTM, RTI, etc you will not be able to contorl RF only devices using the RF Remote. These remote controls only send out RF fequencies that can only be recongnized by their respectable base stations.

Therefore you will not be able to control items that use RF frequencies or remote to control them, such as RF Fans, RF Lighting, RF Screens, RF Blinds, RF Fireplace, etc.

As for the disnetwork receiver, you can use IR codes to control it. The receiver has an IR Receiver and a RF receiver built into the box.

Get the exact models of your fan and DL an owner's manual/installl manual if you do not still have it.

You may be able to address them in a rudimentary way.

If the fans have lights as well, you need to determine if they can be seperated, and if you need additional wire run to the switch location for seperate fan and light controls. Also, you need to determine how the fans react to a loss and restoration of power. Use the breaker panel to detemine these few things...
Do they return to the speed at which they were previously running when you restore power?? or do they default to OFF after regaining power??

IF there are lights that are on a seperate circuit, leave the fan/light dimmer at full and install a Lutron dimmer like the Spacer System which can dim the light remotely as well as create jump-to discrete lighting level comands as presets.

If the fans return to the previous speed once you restore breaker power, then you can use a Lutro Spacer switch in line to control power to the fan. BE CAREFUL TO CHOOSE THE SWITCH FOR THIS, DO NOT USE A DIMMER ON THE FAN. (according to Lutron, they make funny noises and ensure a short life for the fan)

You will not be able to control the fan speed with your automated remote, but on/off is better than nothing.

Besides, most people really only change the speed a few times a season and levae it on the same setting nearly all the time.

They make a fan speed control, that may or cot be compatible. Either way, it does not have IR or serial control.

Please test and report back.

Carl,
Are you related to the Spackler's at Spacker's Muffler & Tire??

Nice folks, I just got my truck back, they rotated all the air in my tires and replaced the muffler bearings for me...

Reasonable too, they only charged me $499. and they even put it back in the same exact spot where I dropped it off.

They do all of our fleet maintenence.

Pfffft, I wish I was of Spackler muffler and tire fame. No, just a jock, a pro, a loopa. Cinderella story, Augusta champion.

And the part number on those gondolas is 7.
