Basic Integra DTR4.5 receiver system up and running, except when in DVD mode the GoVideo (cust wanted to keep) would seem to drop the DD every few seconds. Normal, good DD, digi input assigned fine, digi output of DVD fine, sound just dropped out. Analog mode, no dropout.

Came back next day w/another receiver plus my own DVD player to test. Expected to get him a new DVD and fix it, but my DVD was also cutting out. Put a second receiver in. Same problem, with both DVD players.

Brought stuff home, still failing w/ second receiver and DVD player. Pulled 3 more receivers out of the box, and they work fine.

Is their any chance the GoVideo could have too much amplitude on the digital line that aced two receivers on me? Otherwise, how likely is it I'd get two bad in a row out of the box and three good ones follow?

I'm afraid to hook a good one up to his DVD. I don't want to do that much testing. The tech in me can't see why the DVD should kill the digital input board though.

Time waster supreme.

The one thing I did not read is that you swapped out the Dig. cable...try that.

I'd suggest trying source direct, pure direct, or whatever else manufacturers call it on the receivers. Sounds like a bad DSP - most likely the receiver in both cases unless video was acting goofy (technical term) too.

Well, the client gave me the OK to bring out a new receiver AND DVD tomorrow, which I know will solve the problem.

I just didn't look forward to hooking up another receiver (that I know now is fine) and have it go bad due to his old DVD.

Thanks all.

Tom,

It happens....

A few years back, using Pioneer DVF-727 I had three units in a row that had something wrong with them.

Unit 1 had no video output at all, unit 2 had no digital audio output and unit 3 had no component video output. About a month later I had a unit that worked fine with the exception of no DTS output.

And have never had another problem with a DVF727 since that particular run of units.
