He lives in Phoenix, and I've never seen his new house... He bought it around 5-6 years ago, (i think) and it was done another 7-8 years earlier (??) Next time I talk to him I'll ask if he has any info about the show number or some such...

We donated a StarDome to a family for Extreme Makeover Home Edition. We donated the product, installation, and did about 40 hours of electrical work -all volunteer for. Nearly all specialty products are donated, and most of the labor is volunteer. I think that is why it runs so smoothly. The demolition began Friday at 7 AM; the family came home Wed. at 2 PM. -And it was beautiful, and very well done.

We did get air time on the "How'd they do that" which aired Feb. 1st, 2005.They showed an interview with me working the remote control, and describing the StarDome, and had Paul talking about the benefits product with grace and wonder.

We did purchase l link from the ABC website for $2500 (episode 5 season 2). We have gotten several sales from the show, as well as the logo on our website, and we got to experience this phenomenon first hand.

We have had several sales from the exposure, and would do it again in a heartbeat!

You want to hear something funny? I'm in Jacksonville, just up the road from where that exteme makover was done south of St Augustine. The company that did the work was not allowed to wear logo'd shirts, and had to cover the logo's on their trucks. Sounds like great advertisement to me.
I long for a better world. One in which a chickens motives will not be questioned when mearly crossing the road.

I am part of the company that did the technology for Extreme Home Makeover in Jacksonville. They will promise you the world for advertising and what not but none of it pans out. We knew that going in and did our own PR for it though. In Jacksonville the whole project was volunteer (as are most), the equipment was all super cheesy donated by Sears (Koss HTIB rocks). The most chaotic enviroment imaginable. I was project manager for that house for my company and I have never been so stressed in my entire life. No logos on shirts or trucks. Most of the vendors and the subs got burned on the promotional sponsorship promised by ABC (weeks of unanswered phone calls).

Would I do it again? Probably. Chaos is still kinda fun.

I had to donate materials, equipment, and labor. They promised the world and many referrals (just like many clients do), but nobody could ever tell that we did the show. It was definitely a stressfull experience because nothing was done the way that I would have liked. I just had to "make it look good for the camera". I still watch the show though. I love watching it, but I definitely wouldn't do it again. I should have purchased a new work vehicle with the money.
