Has anyone else had trouble controlling the Tivo HD 10-250 with mouse emitters? I am using xantech hardware and have tried a variety of their mouse emitters and connecting blocks, both amplified and non amplified. My cable runs are about 75 feet and I have tried putting a 470 Ohm resistor across IR and Gnd. I am getting very inconsistent results ranging from good to horrible. Tfhe other compnents all behave well. I have tried two different original remotes and a Theater Master without success.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Hi,

What are you learning the IR codes into?

We have seem some new formats appear recently and they have a trailing carrier that could cause some issues.

If you would like, we would be happy to charactize the remote for you and create pronoto like hex codes for you.

Contact me if your interested

Is the hr10-250 in view of the remote or hidden away? If it's in view, are you using emitter shields to block the tivo from getting direct reception off the remote at the same time it's getting the signal from the mouse emitter?

I had EXACTLY the same problem you're describing but never knew about the IR delayed signal problem. My Tivo was off to the side of the main viewing room and IR signals could get to it. The problem was that the Tivo was seeing the signal directly off the remote and also getting the (ever so slightly) delayed signal from the mouse emitter... the two signals combined and interfered with each other and the tivo was getting garbled IR.

You have to make sure the device is seeing ONLY the IR from the mouse emitter and not let any IR leak into the tivo from the remote control in the room.

As soon as I blocked the tivo's IR window by putting a mouse emitter shield on top of the emitter, the tivo worked perfectly with my Elan panel and my Home Theater Master MX-700. It drove me absolutely nuts before we figured it out.

Xantech makes emitter shields for just this purpose:

We had the same problem but fixed it with a little effort. We opened the unit and installed the emitter behind the window. It now works great and the best part is the emitter will never again fall off.

This is a very common problem - please see this link that I started a couple of weeks ago:

The solution I cite from www.tivocommunity.com really worked well for me.

I have programmed at least a dozen Pronto's to work the HD TiVo with Speakercraft IR stuff with no problems.

We use silicon to keep the emitter on the equipment and make sure that the unit can only see one IR signal like joshg says. It will not work with any consistancy if it sees the direct IR signal and the signal that goes through the repeater system, a lot of equipment will have this problem.

What kind of display are you using and where is the IR receiver located with relationship to it. Plasma and flouresent lights can have a lot to do with your problems as well.

I have never had to use the resistor or open up the unit to get any IR system to work so far. Now that I have said that I hope I not having to try any of that on Monday:)

Good luck,
When good enough is not good enough.
