So what do you guys think about the XM input on all the new Yamahas? Is there a mirroring fee if they already have it in their space ship and hovercraft?

I have heard that there is a fee for each box, period...

The new Denon AVR-4806 at $3,499 will also have XM onboard.
I'm sure that more "xx06" models with onboard XM will show at CEDIA for Q4 '05 delivery...

XM has a family plan, up to 4 radios I believe, where the first is 9.99 and the additional are 6.99.
Why all the fighting and cussing? Can't Dave play nice? We're just here to learn and have fun. It was a harmless jab, laugh and get over it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this an XM antenna input, or an XM audio input? Is the radio in the Yamahas?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

it's a special antenna input for XM.

I don't think that it's just the antenna, I think that it's got some sort of controller on the cord.

but the Tuner is built into the Receiver.

XM in the home? I just can't figure it very well.

Cool in the car & boat, but..

Average monthly fees:
Cable TV and/or Satellite: $50 - $150
High speed internet: $50
Musicmatch, Itunes downloads etc: $20
Pay per view: $12
DVD rental: $13
XM or Sirius (Siriusly) in the AMC Pacer: $13
Night out at the Movies: $35
XM in mi casa: $6.99
Ear plugs for peace and quiet: $1.99

Occasional roar from a Hemi 'Cuda: Priceless

Do you here a very loud sucking sound? I think whoever figures out how to integrate this stuff first into one non redundant package, wins.

(Now about that 'Cuda..)

xm on the yamahas starting at, i believe $400. The antenna from terk is around $50. the new rx-v4600 has hd radio but no xm. you can sign up and get $25 per activation as the installer.

Even the RX-V457 has it (Retail $300). Very nice little workhorse. S-Videos, 2 Component, Input rename, SpkA/SpkB-zoneB IR's have dicreets available, great sound.

For many reasons, Yamaha seems to really be in the installer's court. The new receivers have discretes for almost everything, Yamaha will authorize installers without showrooms to sell the product legitmately, and now an XM feature- with a spiff. What other major receiver manufacturer has done as much to help us sell their product?

Now if we can just get some of the other companies to stop being such bone-heads. Meanwhile, Yamaha takes the lead and will likely profit hansomely from it's wise decisions.

Stew

Yamaha has really geared its products towards us installers. Guys like George M, their east coast tech guy, I believe has been a major influence. It's why I use them exclusively in the receiver price point market.

This new line of Yamaha receivers sounds great. I am currently using Denon, but I get many requests for Yamaha product. About the power discretes, I see none listed in the MX Editor. Are they available elseware?

They have made it simple for us. They are all right here.

If you don't have the Yamaha remote, you can convert them with the Pronto program with these instructions.

Steve thanks for the info, I've been in contact with my local Yamaha distributor to see if I qualify to purchase product.
