So........Got Code?

One of my developers ran into this issue today..........Is it True?

-------After hours on the phone with various tech support representatives, I have found out that the Philips Plasma TV does not support external 232 control. There is a 232 port on the TV, however Philips will not release the protocol as it is proprietary. This leaves us with IR control.

IR control has the following issues. There is no discreet power and only partial discreet input selection. There is discreet control to get to some inputs (av1, av2, av3) but to get to vga1, vga2, and dvi, there is a vga button that toggles through these selections.

I do not know if selecting av1 first, then vga will ALWAYS go to vga1 (if it does then we can FAKE discreet input control) but I would have to have a tv in my presence to test this. Without this knowledge, I am thinking this tv should not be used.-------

Thanks Tons!

Kevin
