Today..We went to an apartment to do a 50inch Panasonic Plasma Tv install..When We got there the idiot owner had the plasma in the box turned upside down for a week. When I noticed this I told him that he wasnt supposed to have it upside down and that I hope that the Plasma is ok after we turn it on.
Sure enough it worked fine...
Now Ive been told from manufactures and distributers of the product that you cant turn a plasma upside down that you could create a problem with the picture or the plasma gas or ???
Now if in the next few days the guy calls me back and tells me it doesnt work Ill know they were right.
Just curious if anybody knows anything about this?
I've heard of not laying it flat, but never any orientation of verticle. We have many plasma displays spun 90 degrees for a more dramatic effect in our custom displays for stores etc. Never a problem.
My guess is that Larry's guess on the crate markings is correct. If you laid them flat during transit there would be more risk of shock damage to the glass, and if anything sharp and heavy FELL directly on the box it would be curtains even before the debut. (If your customers were into Yoga they might actually like it upside down.)

BTW, I recently saw a plasma "windmill display" while traveling. There were about 7 plasmas on an arm that was probably about 20' long spinning around and around like a windmill with the plasmas playing graphics! So I wouldn't worry.
