Personally, I think Ixos is low grade Chinese garbage with super high mark up and pretty packaging to make it attractive to dealers.
My #1 reason for ditching the freebies in the equipment box is reliability, not SQ or appearance or any other frivelous reason. We all know that those cables fail, and fail often. From my limited experience, and from what numerous others have confirmed, Ixos has a failure rate nearly as high as the sh*t that comes in the box.
I make my own cables from serial/digital grade coax and ICM style compression ends. I also use Pro Flex or Liberty pre-made cables in the case of toslink and S-Video, or when I don't have the time to make cables.
I know others here are on the DIY Mogami and Canare bandwagon with Switchcraft and Neutrik terminations. This is a time tested, proven high quality solution as well.

I have been using IXOS lately with a zero failure rate for standard jobs. I have had numerous failures with Direct Connect though. Go figure. I find that compression connector custome made cables are too time consuming and not always perfect. For high end cables I like Straightwire or Kimber for big spenders.

We use Ixos and for higher end jobs Analysis Plus. We've had tremendous results, both sound and buisness, with tha Analysis Plus stuff. They do al the normal A/V cords plus Power and speaker wire. They even have in-wall rated power cord in addition to the normal speaker and A/V stock.

I hope you are wrong about the failure rate of these cables. BTW, I replaced my Monster cables with these. One of the Monsters did fail. So far so good on the Ixos.

MIT Monster Cable Nordost Shunyata TARA Theta Tributaries
There is never a reason to use the ones in the box... (unless you really hate the customer!)

YOUR WELCOME DEPENDING ON WHO YOU ASK NOT EVERYONE WILL TELL YOU THAT BETTER WIRE IS BETTER THAN ANYTHING CAUSE IT REALLY MIGHT NOT BE BETTER THAN ANYTHING DEPENDING ON WHAT YOUR COMPARING IT TO SINCE I HAVE NOT USED IT I CANNOT COMMENT ON IT BUT YOU COULD DO US ALL A FAVOR AND TELL THAT SALESMAN TO PUT HIS MONEY WHERE HIS MOUTH IS AND TOSS YOU A FEW FREE SAMPLES TO TEST OUT AGAINST OTHER BRANDS AT THAT PRICEPOINT THAT WOULD BE COOL I WOULD DEFINITELY DO THAT IF I WERE YOU
