I am close to ordering one of these, but would like a few opinions as to those that have actually seen or used it.
Also, how long did it take to recieve after you placed the order?

8th,

I have ordered one and it has arrived, I ordered it on a Friday, got it on Tues. (I guess they don't work weekends) Technically, I guess that's considered two or three workdays, but I don't live that far from where it shipped, two counties over.

I havent' installed it yet but here's what I've found:

1) It came in this tiny box but when I picked it up I found that it's a heavy little box. The box was a little beat up, but the contents were fine, each part was individually bubble wrapped.

2) There are some decent instructions, as usual more information than you want, but it doesn't look like rocket science(or JET science even). I looked at them briefly scanned them for anything strange. I rarely use instructions fully-- If there's an exploded view of the installation (which there is in this case) that's all I use (This drives a lot of people crazy but I think it's good brain food)

3) I didn't see any warranty, but after holding and looking at the pieces I don't see anything that could really break. There are four main pieces that are solid black chunks o' metal that look like you could drive over them with a truck if you wanted to scratch them, a couple of "bungee" cords and some basic hardware that I guess could possibly break but I can get those anywhere for less than I could have them shipped.

I already have the strut so I should get it installed today if I don't get rained on. I'll play with it a little and I'll let you know. I'm really hoping that it works like it does in the video. JAY, I have a pickup and cap like the one in the video so I'm expecting nothing less than identical results (or better).

Chic!- What are you waiting for!! Install the dang thing!

As far as the box being a little beat up. I'm sorry about that. You got one of the very fist units, and the final packaging design is NOT complete. Very soon they should be available with tricked out 4 color graphics that explain the whole thing. We kept the box small to free up valuable counter space in retailers etc. I am also no a fan of major over packaging. It's very wasteful.

I know the current units are going to be put into a second shipping box to help them handle the ride, but they are shipping fine so far. None lost to the shipper as far as I know.

We are just about wrapped up with all of these issues. You can order them confidently in their limited edition plain white box.

You have a popular truck and cap - For the show vehicle we are doing up a black DCU cap from A.R.E. The best in truck caps, and hardware.. The BEST! ( I don't get a penny from them) We just wanted to use the best for the show.
Jet Rack ... It's what's for breakfast

OK EVERYBODY HERE"S MY TAKE ON THE JET RACK:

Number one. I take back all the crap I said earlier about not really reading the instructions. I did scan them but if I read more carefully, I would have seen that the "sliding mount" should be placed on the rail BEFORE mounting the strut. I had it installed and then had to remove the strut, slide it on blah blah blah. Anyway, that was my only slip up. After that I followed the instructions to the end, and all went well. I did use some large fine thread tek screws but I think it wouldn't hurt if I added a couple of through bolts for safe measure (I tek screwed a few hooks into the same material a couple years ago and they wiggled out after a year or so)

So after some tweaking and a little more tweaking (adjustments to the depth of the ladder and the length) I finished. My total installation time was well under an hour, maybe 45 minutes minutes but it would have been faster if I had some help (or if I followed the instructions) I'm dissapointed with my installation time. Looking at it, I figured I'd have it up and running in about twenty minutes. What can I say it's the first one I've ever installed. Oh yeah, Jay, I couldn't install the "forward stop" because I couldn't fit my ladder in with it. I needed every inch so I just left it off, it still works fine without it. Still used the other stop for the reverse travel.

Anyway, I had it all set up to take my 6 foot Werner ladder and sure enough the damn thing works. I'm not as fast as the guys in the video yet but I'm guessing before long I'll be doing the same.

I do have to say that it's an odd looking contraption. It's not all high tech or colorful and the bungee cords are a bit of a distraction (it reminds me a little of the bow-flex but without the hot girl) but the thing really does work and it really does load a ladder in a few seconds. The tool hole on my ladder is off center so I thought I was going to have to put a hole in my ladder so it wouldn't end up all kooky and crooked but it holds the ladder nicely. One cool thing I noticed is that when you remove the ladder it kind of ejects itself to you the first couple of feet. Now I see why it kind of shoots out of the van like it does in the video. I really don't know what else to say about it. Nice job Jay, I hope you do well with it. I'm sure you're going to sell a crap load of them and I think it's cool that I have one of the first ones off the shelf. I'll do what I can to share it with others.

8th, I think you don't have a whole lot to worry about unless you are mounting something other than a fiberglass A-frame. (I just don't see how another ladder would work in there) I understand your concern. Who wouldn't want it to work well and hear it from others?

I'm going to reserve posting any permanent testimonials until I have some more drive time with it but right now I think I'm really going to like having this thing and I really don't see that changing anytime soon. (I guess that was kind of a testimonial wasn't it)

I have to laugh. I just spent the afternoon today slapping speakers in a home and a big storm rolled in. We packed up while it was raining . I had my tools loaded and about 4 seconds later I had my ladder loaded....inside....on a JET RACK! I was laughing as I did it because my buddy at the same time was getting soaked in the rain while he stood on his tire to strap down his ladder on top of his truck. Ha Ha! Sucker! That was the first time I can say that I was really happy to have the thing.....wow, that took a whole day. When can I start earning a commission Jay? I KNOW I can sell a couple just on the job site I was working on today.
