What the heck was this thread about in the first place?

Now I'm curious!

JJP: Ian was trolling to find/employ an installer to work in Eureka, California in a long established A/V business. From what I recall it sounded like a permanent position for the right individual. My guess is he thought there might be too many snags involved if his employer ended up hiring the Lord of the Rings. IMHO anyone who can punch that many holes and not hit the plumbing has at least some inherent mechanical skills. How long before that same colourful employee begins creating pentangles by drawing lines on the customer's floor from speaker to speaker ?? That's anyone's guess !!

Oh boy. I wish I read this one before it blew up. Sounds like an "Fn" soap opera! LOL

I think it blew up sometime at or around the first response... but it doesn't matter since most installers in the Eureka area are busy installing timers for drip irrigation or putting in low voltage grow-lights in between ganga-filled splif breaks.

Okay SheikYerbbouhti; I see that you know of my businesses "competitor", yes, they have been known to lose a manager every 10 years or so to the lure of unsavory ventures, but my business is solid, and it is because of the potheads that it is so hard to find a quality labor force in Eureka. I'm still seeking, but QQQ and his dad won't be called for an interview.

I just know the region ~ misquoting Mr. Rogers: "Kids, can you say... HUMBOLDT?."

yes, they have been known to lose a manager every 10 years or so to the lure of unsavory ventures,

Do the police drive mopeds or are they on the payola? It should be easy to catch a dreamy, drowsy, droopy pothead on any streetcorner. Just tie a box of GladBags to the back of the moped and drag it through a forest. (Slowly, these folks aren't too motivated.)

it is because of the potheads that it is so hard to find a quality labor force in Eureka.

My point is made..

I'm still seeking, but QQQ and his dad won't be called for an interview.

Why you discriminating elitist!! (Can't say that I blame you.)

Eureka: Population (including outlying areas) around 50,000. Don't tell me - all the good installers left town for the big city, and you're culling through the rubble for a shining star. Relax, (it's the regional thing to do) I'll be there in about 10 years. I won't know any more (according to NBDEER), but I also won't have that "Iguana dozing on warm sand" look in my eyes. I just can't wait to be called a flatlander.

I thought professional installers were supposed to put equipment in to (not take it out of in the middle of the night from) customer's homes. I guess learning your skills in that neighborhood makes you a master outlet-strip-daisy-chainer, or cable-splitter-for-the-whole-neighborhooder, or what about the "15's out the trunk, and into your living room with a car battery, subwoofer system"?. Good TV on top of the bad one entertainment center. Glare from the aquarium's grow light, screen filter.

Potheads shouldn't be difficult for the Police to grip, they're only interested in Doritos, noodles and cola anyway!
