No exper with MZC but lots with Integra. Did you get any response on the display, like a zone 2 led flash for 5 seconds? Pressing zone 2 then a function within 5 seconds is the drill.

A little more detail if you can.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Yea, I have this strange problem.

The EZ-tools learn module will learn all the IR commands, but when you "test" the Zone 2 commands, via the software and a test emitter, the amp does not respond. However, the Zone 2 LED blinks, so I know something is going on.

Here's an example.
with the amp set on tuner, tuner preset up and down works (CH+/-), using either the remote, or the learned command in the EZ tools software, ("tested" using the test emitter).

Set the amp on DVD. using the remote turn on Zone 2, and "Zone 2>CH+(preset +) works the way it should.

Learn that same code into the EZ tools software (Zone 2>CH+), and "test" it, and the amp flashes the zone 2 light, but nothing happens.

The same happens with inputs.

I'm wondering if the EZ tools software is somehow changing the IR.

BTW, use the IR passthrough on the keypad, and it works fine.

OK, well if the led flashes you are certainly getting the zone 2 command into the receiver but the second command won't take.

Could you try repeating the CH+ command 2 or three times with no delays between, or add a short delay between Z2 and CH+ to see if it acts any differently?

It's strange how learned commands act. I copied and pasted the IR discretes for power on/off for a Samsung HD receiver and they worked for the Pronto I was programming. Then I put them into my macros on the main screen and they would not work. Had to repeat the command 3 times consecutively within the macro and now no problems. Go figure.

I don't think there is a "second command"

The Zone 2 button on the remote dosen't output any IR, it just sets the remote to teh Zone 2 layer and then when you press your source, etc, it spits out the Zone 2 code.

I haven't tried any delays, but I did "test" the command several times in a row, and no luck.

The amp is seeing a zone 2 command, but the data to tell the amp what to do just isn't there.

Integra really sometimes does things backward.

Any other Ideas?

If zone 2 is not on, pressing zone 2 plus a source won't turn it on.

Zone 2, then power on, then the source key.

Maybe you were missing that power on command intermediate.

Hi Tom,
Actually, on the DTR6.5, Z2>source will turn on zone 2.

According to Integra, the problem lies in the zone 2 IR "header".

I'll test it next week.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I know you all will ;) ), but I wasn't aware that Integra receivers had a different codeset for zone 2.

Every one I've had to control, pressing Zone 2 turned on the second zone & gave an 8 second window for setting it up, but the remote codes are the same as zone 1.

When jacking it directly into the back, zone 2 works identically to zone 1, using the same codes. Very handy when using Crestron or a URC with an RF base.

Or are we talking about ealier models here?

according to Integra, there is a header on the zone 2 IR commands that tell the amp to go into zone 2 mode. take out that header, and you have a zone 1 command.

This is diffrent than the earlier models, where the zone 2 button actually sent out IR.

You can import pronto hex codes directly into the speakercraft software and you can find excel sheets of all the Integra IR codes on the Integra dealer website. I Have done it this way sucessfully many times.

For Zone 2 on a MZC-66? The imported zone 2 hex didn't work for me.

Did you use the excel sheet or some codes you learned?

I seem to remeber Integra ZOne 2 working flawlessly when you use the Zone 2 IR Input onthe back. Just use Primary Zone commands....
